I’m a very picky eater, figured I would try this place out, staff is a bit slow but very nice, the place looks a bit rough, but clean. The food was honestly amazing! You have to try their rotisserie chicken with rice, it was perfect! I have since been back and tried there Shawarma beef and chicken sandwiches, which were also amazing! Their falafel sandwich was also probably one of the best I’ve ever had. I have been to many places in Chicago with similar cuisine, this place is as good as them for everything else, but the rotisserie was just incredible, better than anything I’ve had in Chicago for sure. I’m glad I didn’t let the look of the place dissuade me from stopping in and trying the food. I’d say it’s probably the best kept Mediterranean food secret in Rockford.
Skip over the American menu and go straight to the Arabic menu. The kibbeh and kabob are among the best I've ever had. Chicken Hop is doing itself and anyone who enjoys Middle Eastern food a disservice by posing as a chicken restaurant rather than a Middle Eastern food restaurant. It took a while to prepare the food because it was made from scratch, not simply removed from a freezer and microwaved. But it was more than worth the wait. Prices are great too. Chicken Hop is a true hidden gem of a restaurant.
